2009 Anesthesia Update for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon


Synopsis

This 1.5 day symposium will cover a variety of contemporary topics in outpatient anesthesia topics including review of airway management, emergency preparedness, prevention of adverse events and response to adverse events. A variety of clinical case presentations will be utilized in an audience response situation in order to reinforce the learning objectives.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:

  1. Assess their current preparedness for a medical emergency while a patient is undergoing anesthesia.
  2. Discuss ways to prevent medical errors in the outpatient setting.
  3. Discuss anesthesia awareness and response to those events.
  4. Discuss adjuncts to airway management in the patient with the difficult airway.
  5. Compare and contrast the properties of the newer anesthetic agents and applicability to outpatient anesthesia.
