Synopsis

This course will discuss surgical options for complex TMJ cases. Treatment procedures will be presented for specific TMJ pathology such as disc displacements, condylar resorption, connective tissue/autoimmune diseases, tumors, ankylosis, previous alloplastic implants, multiple operated joints, etc. Attendees may bring their own cases for discussion.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the pathological mechanisms of various TMJ pathologies found in complex TMJ patients.
  2. Diagnose and treatment plan for management of the TMJ pathology in complex TMJ patients.
  3. Select the surgical procedures with the best long term prognosis for specific TMJ pathologies in the complex TMJ patients.
