Download Handouts

Jennifer Brady
Bend, OR

Synopsis

It is important that everyone in the office, including the front office staff, is aware of where the crash cart is, the contents of the crash cart, and who is responsible for what during a code. It is also important to cross-train every staff member so that everyone knows what to do in the event a code happens. This lecture will provide attendees with vital information to take back to their office for immediate use.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the types and organizational styles of crash carts;
  2. Train staff on such items as the location of the crash cart, the various names for drugs and their roles in an emergency;
  3. Describe the maintenance requirements for the crash cart; and
  4. Facilitate and participate in emergency drills to practice learned skills.
