Synopsis

This course demonstrates how to organize an effective office emergency preparedness plan for management of anesthetic and medical emergencies in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. Emphasis is placed on the use of office automation to create organizational tools and teaching materials for staff training.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the various organizational tools which are available for organizing the office emergency preparedness plan;
  2. Describe the protocols the protocols which can be implemented for effective training of the entire OMFS team; and
  3. Describe the teaching materials available for the conduction of effective familiarity and scenario drills, and how they can be utilized to ensure that the team can in fact respond in a timely fashion should an unforeseen anesthetic or medical emergency occur.
