Synopsis

Immediate implant therapy has gained wider acceptance and application. Many patients are demanding immediate results with optimal long-term esthetics. Using long term clinical case studies, this presentation will demonstrate immediate implant and provisional restoration as a predictable technique for esthetic tissue preservation in extraction sites for single rooted teeth. We will overview the intraoperative decision making in cases with bone or soft tissue compromise. Keys to successful immediate provisional restoration and long term stable soft tissue esthetics will be reviewed. We will overview the indications and intra-operative decision-making in cases of bone or soft tissue compromise using combined grafting techniques and immediate implant placement. The role of maxillary tuberosity as a donor site, closed split thickness connective tissue grafts, and avoiding pitfalls will be reviewed. These minimally invasive techniques offer excellent esthetics, minimal discomfort, faster healing and eager patient acceptance. A practical approach for their progressive implementation will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Understanding of the "Key" principles for predictable immediate esthetic tooth replacement;
  2. Discuss anatomical considerations and application of minimally invasive harvest and grafting techniques; and
  3. Describe provisional restoration fabrication and requirements for predictable immediate and long term esthetic results.
