Synopsis

This course demonstrates how to organize an effective office emergency preparedness plan for management of anesthetic and medical emergencies in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. Emphasis is placed on the use of office automation to create organizational tools and teaching materials for staff training.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Enhance the readiness of the OMS team to deal with anesthetic and/or medical emergencies which might occur in an oral and maxillofacial surgery office. This will improve patient safety and acceptance of office anesthesia.
  2. Assure that all team members are adequately prepared to respond to an anesthetic or medical emergency that occur in the oral and maxillofacial surgery practice.
  3. Assure that the team will respond rapidly and efficiently in the event of an anesthetic or medical emergency.
