Synopsis

Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein (rhBMP-2) regenerates bone by autoinduction. This new biotechnology reduced the time, morbidity, and the complexity of many bone grafting procedures. Its use in sinus augmentations, alveolar ridge defects, continuity defects, alveolar clefts, and fracture non-unions among others are examples of its clinical applications where bone regeneration has resulted in a functions outcome.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Realize bone regeneration without bone harvesting;
  2. Expand their bone grafting capabilities; and
  3. Learn the extended applications of rhBMP-2 for large sized defects.
