Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein (rhBMP-2) regenerates bone by autoinduction. This new biotechnology reduced the time, morbidity, and the complexity of many bone grafting procedures. Its use in sinus augmentations, alveolar ridge defects, continuity defects, alveolar clefts, and fracture non-unions among others are examples of its clinical applications where bone regeneration has resulted in a functions outcome.
