Synopsis

This presentation will review the rationale for using bisphosphonate medications, the suggested pathophysiology of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ), and introduce new strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of BRONJ.

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Review evidence-based guidelines and new strategies for prevention and diagnosis of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
  2. Review reported techniques, interdisciplinary guidelines, and introduce new strategies for treating patients with bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
