Synopsis
Surgeons are frequently confronted with the need to diagnose and treat lip cancer. This clinic will address the fundamentals in diagnosis and treatment of lip cancer and pre-malignant lesions. Treatment modalities will be examined with emphasis to surgical resection and reconstruction of the defects with local, regional, and distant flaps.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the embryology, anatomy, lymphatic drainage and functions of the lip;
- Discuss treatment planning and surgical approaches for lip cancer and pre-malignant lesions; and
- Discuss the available reconstruction techniques and various flap designs for best functional and esthetic results.
