The diagnosis and management of TMJ pain and dysfunction is generally made more complicated than necessary. This presentation reviews diagnostic criteria for myofascial pain, internal derangement and osteoarthritis and presents a practical approach for their management. Non-surgical treatments, arthrocentesis and arthroscopic lavage and lysis will be discussed. Finally, the criteria and surgical techniques for arthroplasty will be presented.
