Synopsis

Using our computer-aided surgical simulation method for cranio-maxillofacial surgery, surgeons can perform virtual surgery, create a 3D prediction of patients' surgical outcomes and transfer the plan to the patient at the time of the surgery. This new method eliminates the problems associated with the current planning methods.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the principles of Computer-Assisted Surgical Simulation (CASS);
  2. Describe the advantages, disadvantages and indications and limitations of this technology; and
  3. Explain the objective data comparing actual outcomes obtained using this technology.
