Synopsis
This course will review the management of high-velocity craniofacial injuries that involve the anterior skull base, including: 1) the use of computer navigation and three-dimensional imaging to assist in the reconstruction of severely disrupted orbital fractures; 2) the treatment of complex fronto-naso-orbital trauma; and 3) management of the frontal sinus.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- Describe the etiology, mechanism, diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial injuries that involve the anterior skull base.
- Describe an algorithm for the diagnosis and treatment of frontal bone trauma including the management of frontal sinus fractures associated with naso-frontal recess obstruction and to review contemporary management of post traumatic cerebrospinal fluid leaks.
- Discuss the use of computer navigation and three-dimensional imaging techniques to assist in the reconstruction of severely disrupted orbital fractures via transorbital and transcranial approaches.
