Synopsis

Enhanced facial form and jaw function can be obtained through the use of non-traditional surgical movements and osteotomy designs. The use of rotational maxillo-mandibular movements, maxillary segmentation with simultaneous minimally invasive TMJ arthroplasty and disc anchoring will be discussed. Case examples and outcome data supporting effectiveness will be presented.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe how incisor position and the use of non linear surgical movements of the maxillomandibular complex can enhance facial form; and
  2. Discuss the rationale and which internal derangement are best treated simultaneously with corrective jaw surgery and the surgical techniques employed.
