Synopsis

This surgical clinic presents an update in advanced craniomaxillofacial surgical techniques. Specific diagnostic considerations, preoperative planning, and intraoperative surgical techniques will be described. A variety of scenarios involving the management of craniosynostosis (including endoscopic approaches), syndromic craniofacial conditions, cranio-orbital trauma, pathology, and skull base access will be presented using illustrative clinical examples of each. The role of technological advances such as resorbable materials, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and intraoperative navigation will be incorporated.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the diagnostic approaches and available surgical options in the treatment of a variety of relevant craniofacial conditions.
  2. Describe a variety of advanced surgical procedures and new technologies within the context of an ideal reconstructive approach with a critical review of available scientific literature.
