Synopsis
A spectrum of mandibular defects can occur. A range of reconstructive options exist. Choosing the optimal technique can be challenging. This interactive session will review the assessment/classification of mandibular defects, the identification of potential compromising comorbidities and provide a systematic approach to reconstructive options. Participants are encouraged to bring problematic cases for discussion.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- Classify mandibular defects based on location, extent and deficient structures; and
- Describe the assessment of the recipient site of a mandibular defect and the principles of harvesting from the common donor sites.
