Synopsis

The contemporary OMS needs autogenous bone grafting techniques to fulfill patient needs in trauma, orthognathic surgery, reconstruction and dental implantology. The tibia graft harvest technique is easy to perform and has a low complication rate. Additionally, the tibia graft harvest technique can be adapted for in-office use.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the tibia graft harvest technique as a viable option in autogenous grafting and be comfortable in performing this technique.
  2. Discuss the uses of the tibia graft harvest in the maxillofacial region.
  3. Review clinical data from the University of Louisville in order to analyze the numbers, data and complications which indicate the tibia is a safe and effective graft site.
