Synopsis

This workshop will provide practitioners with an initial approach to managing office sedation/anesthesia crises. Emphasis will be placed on generic crisis management skills similar to those used by aviation crews during emergencies. Learning strategies will include didactic introduction to the topic, video scenario review, and small group discussion.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Safely manage anesthesia related crises by using effective communication skills, maintaining situational awareness, making appropriate decisions, leading effectively, and using all available resources optimally.
  2. Identify latent or system errors within work environments, and take corrective action where possible.
