Synopsis
The course will cover complication of mandibular osteotomies with a focus on unfavorable splits. Preoperative, intraoperativeand post operative factors will be covered. Basics of prevention and limiting incidence. Cases of the most common forms of unfavorablesplits will be presented with a focus on their management and outcome.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- Describe methods for managing the more common complications in mandibular orthognathic surgery and the common forms of unfavorable splits of the mandible;
- Describe the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative factors which can lead to poor outcomes and describe the technical and anatomic factors that can lead to unfavorable splits of the mandible.
