Synopsis

The use of cortical and corticocancellous autogenous and allogeneic bone blocks in conjunction with resorbable barrier membranes has shown predictable results, demonstrating increases in both the width and height of deficient alveolar ridges. However each graft material requires special surgical consideration to maximize clinical outcome and reduce the surgical morbidity.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Facilitate bone grafting procedures in an outpatient private practice setting.
  2. Review the surgical technique including surgical soft tissue management, graft preparation, graft application, graft fixation, and adjacent tissue transfer.
