Synopsis

Most oral and maxillofacial surgeons have experience in dental implants but limited exposure to craniofacial implant. This session will provide the background, surgical indications and techniques as well as prosthetic applications associated with craniofacial implant surgical procedures for various defects or deformities of the face.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the historical, surgical and prosthetic considerations relating to craniofacial implants; and
  2. Discuss various modalities for autogenous and alloplastic reconstruction and their nuances.
