The treatment planning and surgical management of patients with small and complex bony deficiencies and medical problems continues to be a reconstructive challenge for oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Today's 3D computer software technologies and the use of computer generated surgical guides offer new tools for the surgeon .The surgeon can evaluate and treat patients "virtually", prior to performing "exploratory" reconstructive and implant surgery. These technologies allow the surgeon to think "out of the box" in sequencing and planning surgeries in these complicated patients. This clinic will discuss the benefit of using these technologies in patients requiring bone grafting, ridge splitting, alveolar and maxillary distraction, and complex reconstructive problems that the oral and maxillofacial surgeon faces. Applications in trauma, pathology, and radiation therapy patients will be discussed as well.
