Synopsis

Maxillofacial surgery has emerged as a highly-successful option for management of obstructive sleep apnea. However, a thoughtful, evidence-based management strategy requires a thorough understanding of both surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities. This course will review the available treatments emphasizing an evidence-based approach to management of the patient with OSA.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the spectrum of both surgical and non-surgical treatments available to the patient suffering from OSA.
  2. Describe the evidence available in the medical and surgical literature to support treatments the OMS may offer, such as MMA, genioglossus advancement, or soft tissue procedures, as well as treatments available from other surgical or non-surgical providers.
