Synopsis

During the last decade there has been a growing demand for minimal invasive and endoscopic treatment for salivary gland diseases. Since first introduced in 1990, there have been major steps forward in accurate diagnosis as well as minimally invasive surgical treatment of these diseases. Thanks to accumulated experience and surgical skills, new micro endoscopic technology has been used successfully for salivary gland obstructive diseases combining the endoscopy with Er-Yag laser, external lithotripsy shock waves and minimally invasive surgery. The endoscopic and minimal invasive techniques can also be used for assistance in parotid trauma surgery and for parotid and submandibular tumor surgery.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the latest technology and techniques for diagnosis and treatment of salivary gland disorders;
  2. Employ modern microendoscopic technology; and
