The ability of surgeons to reconstruct, restore and rejuvenate continues to improve. Improvements based on surgical techniques alone have well know limitations, with the primary limitation being that available host tissue may be diseased, injured or absent. Today advances in stem cell research and organ regeneration hold the promise of true reconstructive and restorative surgery with new and healthy tissues. The goal of this symposium will be to present advances in regenerative medicine that have led to, or will lead to, significant advances in reconstructive surgery.
