Anesthesia Update for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon-Day 1


This day and a half program will consider physiology and pharmacology of various physiologic systems, as well as topics in safety of Office Based Anesthesia and "best practices" in anesthesia. Safety systems in the practice of anesthesia will be compared to the safety systems of commercial aviation. The evolving policies at state and federal levels will be discussed in relation to access to care.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss patient evaluation in regard to the cardiovascular and endocrine systems.
  2. Describe the current pharmocologic treatment of diseases of these systems and how the treatments may impact the administration of office based anesthesia.
  3. Explain health care policy and the surrounding issues of access to care as related to office based anesthesia.
