Resident Organization Educational Program - "Disasters From the Masters: Complications and Management in Dental Implant Surgery"

Synopsis

Attend the second of a five-part series on "Disasters from the Masters: Complications and Management in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery." This year's program will focus on surgical complications in dental implant surgery. The program includes three leading surgeons who will present closed surgical cases. The audience will be asked to respond to their preferred treatment of the clinical case. Respondents will discuss how to treat the emergency and what could have been done differently to prevent the adverse event.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the range of problems that can be encountered when performing implant surgery;
  2. Identify the criteria necessary to achieve an optimal esthesic restoration;
  3. Discuss the scope of different treatment options when managing the esthetic site;
  4. Describe the specific preoperative findings that lead to intraoperative compromise; and
  5. Describe how to treat intraoperative problems to decrease implant postoperative problems.
