The Staff's Point of View of A Well Organized Crash Cart and the Importance of Regular Emergency Drills*

Jennifer Brady, AA
Advisory Committee Member, DAANCE
Office of Dr. Keith Krueger
Bend, OR

After completing this course, attendees will have a very good understanding of a well organized crash cart, the importance of cross training all staff, and the different types of crash carts and how to organize them to fit your office needs. All attendees will also have a clear understanding of how important it is to have regular emergency drills and why.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Help optimize the response and management of medical emergencies
  2. Optimize all staff awareness of the crash cart and medical emergency if a staff member is out that day.
  3. Explain the importance of cross training staff. You never know who will be in the office during a code. Your lead assistant may be out sick that day and a code happens. It is important that your scheduling coordinator or financial coordinator is able to help during the code.
