Between 1998-2008, more than 400 transmissions of hepatitis occurred in outpatient settings. Infectious disease transmissions present a serious hazard to patients and healthcare workers. This course summarized the current recommendations for infection control in dental healthcare settings, including the practical clinical application of regulations and recommendations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the current standards for patient safety relative to infection control; and
  2. Gain a thorough knowledge of how diseases are transmitted and the current best practices for prevention.
