Synopsis

This workshop is designed to help participants understand how to implement the CDC Guidelines for infection control in dental healthcare settings. Takeaways include: an infection control checklist, how to evaluate your office for patient and employee safety, and helpful resources for organizing and conducting a successful office infection control meeting.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Locate and identify key recommendations as they pertain to each dental setting and as required by state and federal regulations;
  2. Describe the basic concept of infection control, explain appropriate techniques for sterilization and disinfection.;
  3. Understand how gaps in infection control occur and how to prevent them; and
  4. Understand methods for spore testing. Explain what to do in the event of a positive spore test result.
