The majority of OMS's are in sole doctor offices, the practice will suffer irreperable harm from the disability or fatal event without Practice Emergency Planning. "Clinical and Life Planning for Emergencies" identifies the specific people, documents and Mutual Aid Group plans necessary for practice continuity and value retention.With the proper planning and a mutual aid group, you can assure continuity of care for patients of the practice in all phases of treatment. A formal group will enhance the professional relationships, not only among its members, but more importantly, will offer assurance to referral sources.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Recognize vulnerability of the practice and risk of loss of practice or value without proper planning and procedures;
  2. Categorize the people, documents and resources every practice needs to successfully sustain it during an unforeseeable crisis; and
  3. Define the legal and organizational requirements for a self-sustaining Mutual Aid Group.
