The 2011-2012 AAOMS Officers and Trustees were elected and installed during the third session of the House of Delegates on Thursday morning.
Dr. Arthur C. Jee was installed as president for the coming year. Dr. Miro Pavelka was elected president-elect and Drs. Eric Geist and Brett Ferguson were elected vice president and treasurer, respectively.
Drs. Lawrence Busino, District I, Louis Rafetto, District II, and Henry Windell, District VI, were elected to second terms as district trustees. Dr. David Johnson of Tennessee was elected to a two-year term as trustee of District III.

Richard Simonsen, DDS, MS, founding dean (retired) Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine, Scottsdale, AZ delivered the meeting's keynote lecture Thursday morning, capturing the audience with his topic of "Commerce Versus Care: The Ethics of Dental Treatment."
The Exhibit Hall opened Thursday morning and educational sessions were in full swing.
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Political Action Committee reception celebrated OMSPAC's 40th anniversary.
Wednesday, September 14
The Member Pavilion, located in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, opened on Wednesday - a day before the exhibit hall itself. The early opening gave attendees uninterrupted time to acquaint themselves with the many AAOMS products and services.
The second session of the House of Delegates convened Wednesday afternoon. Delegates deliberated the resolutions. Actions of the House will be published in the November/December issue of AAOMS Today.
The 93rd AAOMS Annual Meeting, Scientific Sessions and Exhibition, held in conjunction with the Scandinavian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons was formally dedicated to Dr. Lionel Gold (center) of Philadelphia during the Opening Ceremony, Meeting Dedication and Awards Presentation on Wednesday evening.
AAOMS President Dr. Larry J. Moore greeted guests and welcomed everyone to the meeting. Greetings were also delivered by Drs. Janicke Liaaen Jensen (pictured), president of the Scandinavian Association, and Dr. Larry Nissen, president of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Prior to the awards presentation, Dr. Moore announced that the prestigious AAOMS Distinguished Service Award will henceforth be known as the Robert V. Walker Distinguished Service Award in memory of the OMS legend who passed away earlier this year.

Tuesday, September 13
Both preconference programs, the Anesthesia Update for the OMS and the Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery, convened bright and early Tuesday morning.
Reference Committee hearings were also held Tuesday morning. Fellows and members shared their thoughts and comments about the resolutions that would be considered by the House of Delegates on Wednesday.
Monday, September 12
The first session of the 2011 AAOMS House of Delegates convened Monday, September 12 at 2:00. President Larry J. Moore addressed the House, recapping the specialty's initiatives and successes during his term as president. AAOMS members may access the complete text of

Also during the session, Dr. Mark D. Zajkowski, was elected to an 8-year term as a director of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
The 25th anniversary of The California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS) was recognized during the session. District VI Trustee Dr. Henry Windell presented a gavel and podium cover to CALAOMS President Dr. John L. Lytle.
