Synopsis

The Clinic will review the most common anesthetic emergencies selected from OMSNIC closed case files on anesthetic morbidity/mortality and look at prevention and management of such cases. The Clinic will be presented in and ABCs format. Airway, breathing and ventilation as well as circulatory emergencies are presented.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology and management of the most common office anesthetic emergencies according to closed claim statistics from OMSNIC.
  2. Help practitioners focus on the common repeated mistakes.
