Management of Ballistic Injuries

Early and definitive care of ballistic injuries requires understanding of ballistics and its impact on facial structures. This course will cover the science of ballistics, early and definitive care of these type of injuries. Cases from stateside and from both Iraq and Afghanistan will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the relevance of types of ballistic injuries and their impact on craniofacial tissues
  2. To describe the principles of high velocity ballistic wounds and how they impact on tissues.
  3. Describe treatment planning in patients with ballistic injuries
