Dentoalveolar Procedures to Enhance Orthodontic Therapy

Orthodontists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons routinely work together to treat a myriad of dentofacial anomalies. These can range from simple dentoalveolar problems to more complex dentoskeletal disharmonies. This symposium will focus on surgical/orthodontic collaboration in the treatment of problems of dentoalveolar origin.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify common conditions requiring dentoalveolar surgery to enhance orthodontic therapy.
  2. Discuss the indications for the use of temporary anchorage devices.
  3. Explain the indications for the use of implants to aid in orthodontic therapy.
