You can participate in three annual meeting symposia without leaving home!

Three symposia scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2012 have been selected for live Web broadcast from the San Diego Convention Center. If you can't be there in person, then plan to participate via the webcast from your desktop, laptop, and new this year—even your smart phone or tablet.

A Review of Office Emergencies
7:30am - 9:30am (PDT)
This symposium will review the emergencies that may occur in an outpatient setting. Emphasis will be placed on evaluation and management of those conditions that are commonly discussed during licensing and the anesthesia certification process.

Anesthesia: Pediatrics and Geriatrics
10:00am – 12:00pm (PDT)
These two, one-hour presentations will examine anesthetic concerns in the pediatric and geriatric populations. Special attention will be give to postoperative delirium and postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) in the elderly.

Symposium on Drug Shortages: Reasons and Recommendations
1:30pm – 4:00pm (PDT)
This symposium will explore reasons for the continuing shortage of injectable anesthetic agents used in OMS practice from the perspectives of a manufacturer of generic sterile injectables and the FDA; possible statutory and regulatory options to solve the shortages; and suggest practice options for the OMS.
