Set the Bar High - Complete the All New AAOMS Coding Certificate Program and Get the Recognition You Deserve!
The all new AAOMS Coding Certificate Program (CCP) offers a coding instruction series for OMSs and their staff unmatched in scope and detail anywhere else. This specialty-specific certificate program consists of three course levels - Basic, Beyond the Basics and Advanced (either Advanced Online or the Annual Meeting Advanced Coding Practice Clinic). Development of this offering stems from an Association wide belief that those who successfully complete the entire program should be recognized for their accomplishment and proficiency in OMS coding. While not certification, those AAOMS members and staff that complete the program will be awarded a certificate of completion and special lapel pin, visible proof of these individuals' extensive knowledge of coding principles. Knowledge that will show immediate results - measurable, significant results - for your practice! For more information view frequently asked questions about the new program.
Basic Coding Online
The Basics is offered online and designed especially for the OMS and staff who have never attended a coding workshop and have had no formal training in procedural and diagnostic coding. This course will present the very basic elements of coding and will provide participants with an effective understanding of the CDT, CPT, and ICD-9-CM coding systems.
Please allow 10 days for confirmation of your online coding course registration. Your course user ID and password will be e-mailed to you.

Webinar: Making the Transition to ICD-10-CM
Register now for AAOMS' first webinar devoted purely to ICD-10-CM to learn more about preparations providers must make in anticipation of ICD-10-CM. The new diagnostic coding system is scheduled to officially replace ICD-9-CM October 1, 2013. "Making the Transition to ICD-10-CM" will be presented by distinguished AAOMS coding and billing workshop speaker, Dawn W. Jackson, DrPH, RHIA, CCS-P, FAHIMA. OMSs are encouraged to participate along with coding and billing staff as ICD-10-CM will be a major change affecting not only coding, but will impact documentation as well.
Webinars are audio-interactive web conferences much like a conference call, but in a more controlled environment. Through Internet access you can follow along visually with the speakers as they go through their presentation and by turning on your speakerphone, you are able to listen to the presentation as well. Participants are able to ask questions throughout the seminar via the telephone or the computer. Listeners can be anywhere and still call in to participate without travel expenses and limited time off from the job. Various Practice Management topics are offered throughout the year for oral and maxillofacial surgeons and their staff. For information on other webinars available see Practice Management Workshops & Webinars.
