2013 Young/New Investigators' Day and Research Summit

The 2013 Young/New Investigators' Day will convene from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 1. The Research Summit program will convene from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 2 and from 7:30 a.m. to 12:45pm on May 3. A reception for attendees and speakers is scheduled for May 2 at 6 p.m. Please register using the links below. There is no registration fee for the programs or social event.
May 1, 2013 Young/New Investigators' Day Program
The 2013 Young/New Investigators' Day Program is sponsored by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation (OMSF). Developed by the Committee on Research Planning and Technology Assessment, the Young Investigators' Day program promotes careers in education and research and provides mentoring opportunities for young faculty and residents and includes presentations on academic surgery as a career path.
May, 2-3 2013 Research Summit Program
The 2013 Research Summit Program is sponsored by the AAOMS, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation (OMSF), the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS). Developed by the Committee on Research Planning and Technology Assessment, the 2013 Research Summit program is comprised of three sessions:
- Robotic Surgery
- Research Interest Groups for Anesthesia, Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery, Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Orthognathic Surgery, TMJ, Trauma
- Anti-Resorptive Bisphosphonates Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws (BRONJ)
A multidisciplinary panel of experts will present their research on robotic surgery and BRONJ. The Research Interest Groups will convene on the afternoon of May 2nd. The primary goal for each group is to develop collaborative research projects including patient registries, observational studies, and clinical trials in one of the following areas: Anesthesia, Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery, Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Orthognathic Surgery, TMJ, and Trauma. Attendees will participate in the group of their choosing. Both academic and private practice OMS are urged to attend the Summit and participate in a research interest group. Members of AAOMS relevant Clinical Interest Groups, Task Forces, and Committees are encouraged to participate in a group.
