Toolkit on Ambulatory Surgery Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) Available from the AAAHC

February 15th, 2013

The Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care's (AAAHC) Institute for Quality Improvement has developed resources on quality improvement, benchmarking and patient safety that can be accessed free of charge. The AAAHC Institute is developing a series of patient safety "toolkits." These toolkits include brief evidenced-based information on important ambulatory safety issues, as well as clinical algorithms and patient assessment tools to aid in clinical decision-making and patient management. The Toolkit on Ambulatory Surgery Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) may be of special interest to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. The toolkit examines pre-, intra-, and post-operative considerations when performing a procedure that requires anesthesia on patients who experience obstructive sleep apnea. The AAOMS Office Anesthesia Evaluation Manual is cited on the Toolkit reference list. More about the OSA Toolkit and other Toolkits offered by the AAAHC can be found at this site.
