Practice Clinics
The AAOMS Practice Clinics held during the Annual Meeting, offers the oral and maxillofacial surgeon and his/her staff the opportunity to earn continuing education credits as well as the opportunity to improve their practice management knowledge and skills. The Practice Clinics cover all areas of practice management, including, practice-building, office and personnel administration, practice organization, financial management, fraud and abuse, and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and OSHA.

Professional Allied Staff Courses
The Professional and Allied Staff Courses held during the AAOMS Annual Meeting offer oral and maxillofacial surgery clinical staff the opportunity to earn continuing education credits as well as the opportunity to improve their professional knowledge and skills. Courses differ from year to year, but typically include a symposia, mini-lectures and skills labs. Topics could include, but are not limited to OSHA and infection control, ACLS protocol, medical emergencies, technology, Implant Assisting, Anesthesia, IV safety, and radiographic imaging.

Surgical Clinics and Mini-Lectures
The AAOMS Surgical Clinics and Mini-Lectures are limited attendance lectures held during the AAOMS Annual Meeting. These sessions cover the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery and afford attendees the opportunity to interact and engage with the presenters in a small-group learning environments. Surgical clinics are limited to 25 participants and mini-lectures are limited to 150.

Oral Abstracts and Posters
AAOMS accepts applications for oral abstracts and posters for presentation at each Annual Meeting. Oral abstract presentations are a 6 to 7 minute lecture on research delivered in an electronic format followed by a brief question and answer period. Poster presentations are a visual display of research highlights displayed on a bulletin board. Applications are accepted in the following categories: anesthesia, epidemiology, facial cosmetic surgery, implants, infection, maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial reconstruction, nerve repair, orthognathic surgery, pharmacology, regenerative medicine, TMJ, trauma and wound repair.

Standard Audio/Visual - Most rooms will be set-up with standard Audio/Visual equipment. This guide lists the standard AAOMS A/V requirements. Please contact your AAOMS staff contact if you require additional equipment.
How to Create Educational Objectives - An important component of your presentation application will be the educational objectives. The Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development (CCEPD) as well as the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) requires that you provide identified needs, desired results and learning objectives with your application.

Annual Meeting Poster Presenters
When designing your poster for the annual meeting, please review the preferred poster format. Some variation in design will be permitted, however, please be sure to include title, names and affiliations of all authors, disclosure of all funding received and commercial relationships, a statement of the problem, materials and methods used, results/data gathered, and conclusions.
