Conference Overview

The goal of the program is to provide an opportunity for full-time OMS educators to discuss current teaching practices to ensure the continuous quality of OMS education and training.

Who Should Attend

Oral and maxillofacial surgery faculty can attend this meeting.

Course Objectives

  • Describe best practices in OMS applicant and resident assessment.
  • Demonstrate engagement with colleagues on innovation and education in the OMS specialty.
  • Explain the culture of research and investigation within an OMS department.
  • Identify best practices to expose predoctoral students to the specialty and create meaningful rotations.
  • Discover interprofessional relationship-building and networking opportunities.

Receptions and Networking

All attendees are invited to a complimentary reception at AAOMS headquarters on the evening of May 2. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and networking breaks between sessions on May 2 and 3.

The new OMS Institute for Education and Innovation will house a large meeting space, four simulation labs and two control rooms. The center will host meetings and hands-on sessions, including the Educators Summit, Clinical Trials Methods Course and two modules of the AAOMS National Simulation Program – BEAM) and (OBCM).

Weather and Meeting Attire

Business attire is requested for all conference sessions. Attendees are encouraged to dress in layers, as meeting room temperatures may vary throughout the day. The average May temperature in Chicago is 66 degrees.
