Geistlich Philip J. Boyne Memorial Scholarship
AAOMS is pleased to announce the Philip J. Boyne Memorial Scholarship Fund – supported by Geistlich Biomaterials – will provide 33 OMS residents with $1,500 each to participate in the 2017 AAOMS Dental Implant Conference from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 in Chicago, Ill.
Dr. Philip J. Boyne served 20 years in the U.S. Navy before he was a professor and research scientist in advanced dental education. He was the first to develop and report many surgical procedures, and his research involved the application of bone-inductor cytokines to produce bone repair without the necessity of bone grafting. An author of textbooks and book chapters on maxillofacial surgery, he published more than 230 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Boyne passed away June 9, 2008, and he will be remembered for his positive outlook on life, his legacy of mentorship and his dedication to dental education research.
Interested residents must complete the award application and return it to AAOMS by Oct. 27. AAOMS will notify award recipients via email on Nov. 3.
