Is it too late to register for the 2018 Annual Meeting?

Answer:

Although online registration is closed, those who did not register in advance may do so onsite at the AAOMS Registration Center in McCormick Place West.

What transportation is available from the airport to the hotel?

Answer:

Taxi service – O’Hare and Midway airports offer taxicab service from the designated taxi zones in the roadway center islands at arrivals/baggage claim. To ensure you have a licensed taxi driver, please be sure to use designated taxi stands.

GO Airport Express – Receive a 15 percent discount on travel to and from airports until Oct. 7 from GO Airport Express. After that date, the discount is 10 percent. Book today using the form at airportexpress.com/reservations or call 773-247-1200. Apply or mention the discount code “AAOMS.” GO Airport Express offers customer service counters at baggage claim in every terminal.

Public transit – The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) provides public transportation from both O’Hare and Midway airports to downtown Chicago. Visit transitchicago.com for information on transportation to/from O’Hare and Midway airports.

How do I download the meeting mobile app?

Answer:

Search for “AAOMS Events” in the App Store (Apple devices) or the Google Play Store (Android devices). Or from any internet-enabled device, visit m.core-apps.com/AAOMSevents for links to the app and tips for using it. Or scan the QR code on the signs around the convention center.

The app is designed to include multiple events, so if you already have the AAOMS Events app installed on your device from a past meeting, from the dashboard select the gear icon in the upper-right corner, click “Exit to Show List,” then select 2018 Annual Meeting from the Installed Shows to download.

How do I use the meeting mobile app?

For an overview of all the features of the app and tips for using it, visit AAOMS.org/AAOMS2018app. For more information on how to access these features, visit the AAOMS Social Media Bar open during the regular Exhibit Hall hours of 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

How do I connect to the wireless internet at the convention center?

Answer:

Connect to network AAOMS2018. No password is required.

How do I get my CE credit?

Answer:

Claim CE credit for sessions you attend at AAOMS.org/MyCE. This website can be accessed at the Internet CEnter in the Skyline Ballroom Foyer of the McCormick Place West or from your personal device. Free Wi-Fi is available at the McCormick Place West. Sessions can be evaluated until Jan. 31.

On the website, log in to the system using your last name and badge number. If you are evaluating a paid ticketed session, you must be registered for that session in order to complete the evaluation and receive credit. The Anesthesia Update preconference – Office-based Anesthesia – Past, Present and Future – also requires separate registration to access the CE evaluation. If you are still having trouble accessing the site at the Annual Meeting, you may visit the program office in Room W181 c at McCormick Place West or call 312-949-8630. Where is the Program Office/Speaker Ready Room?

Where are posters located?

Both electronic and printed scientific posters will be available during the Annual Meeting. Poster boards will be on display in the Exhibit Hall. E-posters will be accessible online and through the meeting app starting Oct. 7. During the meeting, scan the QR code attached to each poster board to view the e-poster on your mobile device.

Where and how do I get handouts?

Answer:

Handouts can be accessed at AAOMS.org/Chicago. Handouts also can be downloaded through the 2018 Annual Meeting mobile app. Note: Not all speakers have provided a handout.

How can I order recordings of educational sessions?

Answer:

Recordings can be pre-ordered at the Recordings Kiosk in the Skyline Ballroom Foyer or at AAOMS.org/Recordings. They will be available by mid-November. Special pricing is available for attendees who order onsite – an entire set is $499 ($599 after Oct. 14). Visit AAOMS.org/Recordings for complete information.

What is the ticketing process for educational sessions?

Answer:

If you registered for a paid course, the ticket was included in your registration packet.

A paid ticket guarantees a seat in the specified course.

Available tickets can be purchased at the onsite registration desk in the West Lobby.

Didactic clinical courses do not require tickets. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Day Passes are required for admission to Practice Management and Professional Staff Development sessions and are good for any course for the day that is purchased. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Day Passes can be purchased at the onsite registration center as available.

Where is the hands-on cadaver course (session XH01) located?

Answer:

The cadaver course will be Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Rush University Medical Center, Anatomy Lab. Transportation will be provided from the Hilton Chicago to the lab at 7:15 a.m. from the 8th Street entrance.

Where is the Exhibit Hall? What are the hall hours?

Attendees are invited to become social media savvy by visiting the AAOMS Social Media Bar, which is open during the regular Exhibit Hall hours. Stop by Booth 1029 to ask a question or participate in one-on-one consulting during regular Exhibit Hall hours.

To strengthen your understanding of the AAOMS Informational Campaign, participate in one of six learning lab sessions. These brief learning labs can help AAOMS members and their staff learn how to take advantage of the materials available through the AAOMS Informational Campaign to educate patients and promote the specialty and their practices. No tickets are required.

The lost-and-found box will be located at Attendee Registration. At the end of the conference, items are turned into the Convention Center Security Office, and you can visit www.mccormickplace.com/lost_property.html thereafter. Attendees with items that are lost should fill out a Lost and Found Form at Attendee Registration with contact information.

Do you have a coat check or luggage check?

When is the President’s Event?

Answer:

The President’s Event is 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Art Institute of Chicago, Modern Wing. Tickets are $115 each. Tickets for children (under 21 years old) are $60 and must be purchased with an adult ticket. Shuttles will pick up from the host hotels. Business casual attire is appropriate for the event.

What do I do if I lost my ticket for complimentary lunch on Friday in the Exhibit Hall?

Answer:

Visit the Registration Center on Level 3 for a replacement.

Why didn’t I get a lunch ticket for my spouse/guest?

Answer:

Tickets were provided to paid attendees, not guests. Visit the Registration Center, which may have extras.

Where is next year’s Annual Meeting?

Answer:

The 101st AAOMS Annual Meeting, Scientific Sessions, and Exhibition will be held Sept. 16 to 21 in Boston, Mass., at The Westin Boston Waterfront and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. More information will be posted at AAOMS.org/Boston.
