FIRST DRAFT REVIEW

Parameters of Care: Clinical Practice
Guidelines for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
(AAOMS ParCare 2017)

The AAOMS Special Committee on OMS Parameters of Care has completed the first draft of the Parameters of Care: Clinical Practice Guidelines for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS ParCare 2017).

As with previous versions, the draft Parameters of Care contains general criteria, parameters and considerations as well as indications for therapy, factors affecting risk, indicated therapeutic parameters and outcome assessment indices, which includes favorable outcomes and known risks and complications for 11 designated areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

ParCare is an indispensable publication that outlines and validates the scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery practice to state and federal governmental agencies, courts of law, insurance companies, allied dental and medical specialties, and the public.

AAOMS fellows and members may review and provide comments on the AAOMS ParCare 2017. The first draft document is now open for member review.

PDF files are available in the Member Center of the AAOMS website at aaoms.org/parcare. Log in, select "ParCare 2017 Review" and follow the instructions to submit your comments.

Please take the time to review and submit your written comments to the AAOMS Professional Affairs Department no later than November 1, 2016. Your contributions will assure that this important publication remains a specialty consensus document.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

If you're attending the AAOMS Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, you'll also have the unique opportunity to provide your comments in person. Plan to attend the Parameters of Care Open Forum on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 8:00am to review the updated literature and discuss the proposed AAOMS ParCare 2017 changes with your colleagues.
